Mona Lisa is a portrait of a woman that is half-length painted by the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci and it has been applauded as the best recognized the most on paper and the most famous work of art in the world. Mona Lisa was painted in order to be a portrait of Lisa Gherardini, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo and it was commissioned by her husband. Leonardo da Vinci commenced the painting Mona Lisa between 1503 and 1506 in Florence, Italy although Leonardo might have continued working on it as late as 1517 perfecting it.
The Mona Lisa is an oil painting that contain cottonwood panel as the surface. Since Mona lisa is painting of the Renaissance period it depicts biblical scenes, this was the style and technique of the paintings of this period which make art notable from other eras of artwork.  The dimension of Mona Lisa is 77cm by 53cm. traditionally, the painting has been identified as Lisa gel Gioconda but lack of substantial evidence has fueled alternative theories among them the Leonardo’s Mother Caterina and the possibility that Leonardo used his own likeness. Another aspect under speculation is the size of the painting whether it is original or not.
Leonardo da Vinci through the painting of Mona Lisa and it being the best recognized image , the most on paper and the most famous work of art in the world comes out conspicuously and speaks a lot  He is able to motivate, inspire and influence so many upcoming artists. For example Mona Lisa was able to inspire the children's book Katie and the Mona Lisa by James Mayhew where he personalized as a stage musical.
Da Vinci's paintings were very few in number, but his drawings were productive, and it provided clear evidence of his status as a master of composition and detail. Mona Lisa's smile is ideal in that it tracks one of the gentle deficiencies of human beauty. From the image, the smile can be seen and it is awesome. These beautiful imperfections are extraordinary, but often seen every day, the curve of Jacquelyn Kennedy's neck, or the unidentified person detained in simple deliberation or while accomplishing a basic task. In other words, the attractiveness of the Mona Lisa is that the artist simply calmed his mind and let himself paint what was before him and from his heart.
